So much about nothing
Moving along...Not much happened during these couple of days..Mostly the same ol thing..work..sleep..eat..meetings..you'll get the picture. With regards to eating, I've started to do crunches and sit up at home while wathing tv..hopefully that would help me in the middle section..hehehe..yeah i know...i'm vain..but, after the chest pain i had last year..made me thinking..life is too short. Probably i'll grab that Osim new contraption..U-Zap thingy...hehehe..it might work..
Last friday..wifey got tickets for the PGL in Istana Budaya..I quickly snap the opportunity though i'm suppose to have a drink with a partner...ahh...to hell with the drink..this is more important...So, there we are...watching PGL in awe..not by the performance..but the whole place..its darn cool...this is the 2nd i'm here..the 1st time..was more on business purposes. I'm not sure bout this theater screening..coz i'm a bit jakun with the whole thing...but it started pretty much late than schedule..like almost half hour late...maybe its Malaysian..heck..we created JIT in the manufacturing world!!... I just hate waiting...
The whole show was ok..as i have not seen any performance like this..so my benchmark and expectation was non-existent..but i dun want to give full review on it..lots of good viewers already blogging about it..do refer to them for a more objective opinion..But some observation i would like to comment on :
1. The stage was cool...it can change the height of the floor on the fly..so it gives the impression on the peak of Gunung Ledang..I was sooo impressed with this technological marvel the most...so..that's why i'm giving it a 2 thumbs up for PGL..hahahah.
2. AC Mizal can act...not as an Inspektor whoever in Gerak Khas only..wifey told me..he received a standing ovation for his performance..i'm not surprised..
3. The gwailoh Hang Tuah cannot act...i dun think that dude understand what he's saying...but give him credit...he can sing really well...now i understand why they can't pick MNasir or Awie to be the leading hero..the song is not ur standard off the shelf song in Radio ERA..
4. There's an english translation on top on the ceiling...and I just can help it to read it..it's like reading an english poem..i can't understand it..but useful to those mat salleh wanted to understand the myth..
5. Rubbing shoulder with high class society and famous peeps..not ur typical slut and bitches...bunch of old ladies with dyed hair and american slang...sigh
6. I can't stop noticed Tiara's hubby will clapped first after she sang a song...i mean any song for this case..Its kinda pathetic
7. I told my wife..I'm in heaven....she asked "Why?"..watching young girls berkemban prancing around live and my wife not pissed about it...hahahah
8. Got an intermission like hindustan movies...15 min of restroom time..how thoughtful
9. I only realized there was a live band accompanying the performance after the intermission..no wonder the music was very loud and i can't see any loudspeaker lying around...silly me..
10. No maxis coverage..I must complain to AK for this..they can cover the whole PLUS highway from Johor to Perlis but failed to cover this KL building...I can't believe this...or maybe the Istana Budaya peeps did it on purpose..to prevent those annoying beeps and tones during the show...We can never listen to instruction...Turn the damn thing off damn it...especially in Jumaat prayers....
11. No popcorn!!I was starving like mad...
12. The space betw the seats are lil bit tight..you got to stand up to give way people to go through..TGV have a better space than this..
The end
My to do's this week
1. Finish and present my account plan to boss
2. Apply long leave for the trip
3. Start working on the new brochures for my volume programme...

Those were the days...
Bump into an article in my friends blog..That was before I bump into another blog and saw a picture of us during MMU Sport Carnival...way back then..gosh..time really flies...
Have we really progressed?
Born before 198O?
According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 60's, 70's and early 80's probably shouldn't have survived, because our baby cots were covered with brightly coloured lead-based paint which was promptly chewed and licked. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, or latches on doors or cabinets and it was fine to play with pans.
When we rode our bikes, we wore no helmets, just flip-flops and fluorescent 'spokey dokey's' on our wheels. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or airbags - riding in the passenger seat was a treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle and it tasted the same.
We ate chips, bread and butter pudding and drank fizzy juice with Sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing.
We shared one drink with four friends, from one bottle or can and no-one actually died from this.
We would spend hours building go-carts out of scraps and then went top speed down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into stinging nettles a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We would leave home in the morning and could play all day, as long as we were back before it got dark. No one was able to reach us and no one minded.
We did not have Play stations or X-Boxes, no video games at all. No 99 channels on TV, no videotape movies, no surround sound, no mobile phones, no personal computers, no DVDs, no Internet chat rooms. We had friends - we went outside and found them.
We played elastics and rounders, and sometimes that ball really hurt! We fell out of trees, got cut, and broke bones but there were no law suits. We had full on fist fights but no prosecution followed from other parents.
We played chap-the-door-run-away and were actually afraid of the Owners catching us. We walked to friends' homes.
We also, believe it or not, WALKED to school; we didn't rely on Mummy or daddy to drive us to school, which was just round the corner.
We made up games with sticks and tennis balls.
We rode bikes in packs of 7 and wore our coats by only the hood.
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of...They actually sided with the law.
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
And you're one of them. Congratulations!
Pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow as real kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good.
For those of you who aren't old enough, thought you might like to read about us.
This my friends, is surprisingly frightening......and it might put a smile on your face:
The majority of students in universities today were born in 1986........They are called youth.
They have never heard of We are the World, We are the children, and the Uptown Girl they know is by Westlife not Billy Joel. They have never heard of Rick Astley, Bananarama, Nena Cherry or Belinda Carlisle.
For them, there has always been only one Germany and one Viet nam
Michael Jackson has always been white.
To them John Travolta has always been round in shape and they can't Imagine how this fat guy could be a god of dance.
They believe that Charlie's Angels and Mission Impossible are films from last year.
They can never imagine life before computers.
They'll never have pretended to be the A Team, Red Hand Gang or the Famous Five.
They'll never have applied to be on Jim'll Fix It or Why Don't You. They can't believe a black and white television ever existed. And they will never understand how we could leave the house without a mobile phone.
Now let's check if we're getting old...
1. You understand what was written above and you smile.
2. You need to sleep more, usually until the afternoon, after a night out.
3. Your friends are getting married/already married.
4. You are always surprised to see small children playing comfortably with computers.
5. When you see teenagers with mobile phones, you shake your head.
6. You remember watching Dirty Den in EastEnders the first time around.
7. You meet your friends from time to time, talking about the good old days, repeating again all the funny things you have experienced together.
8. Having read this mail, you are thinking of forwarding it to some other friends because you think they will like it too...Feb 9, 2006

Sweet Bitter Pill
I know my cust dun celebrate CNY, but i think since we are a multicultured society.."semangat muhibah" we all Malays too kinda join in the frenzy..look at the traffic jam...
on work and life
:: but today, on personal matter...i felt so down. things happen for a reason. whatever the reason is, you have to accept it and learn to appreciate it eventhough it is heart-wrenching.

About Love and Hate
10 Things Why i hate my job
1. Attending my weekly sales meeting. This is where i got beaten up by my boss to a pulp..Practically every week
2. Getting off my bed every damn morning
3. Making sales calls..gosh i just hate it
4. Appointment with an ignorant customer...plus arrogant ones...
5. Receiving early morning sms's from my boss, requesting a daily update on each transaction...especially end of the quarter
6. Problematic partners intending to offload their issues on me..WTF!! Heck, if i can solve your problem..better i run your company then..not my fu*kin problem dude..
7. Working with other department...this can be very trying for an impatient person like me...
8. Can't stop smoking when meeting with clients and partners...I had a chest pain 2 weeks ago after non-stop smoking during discussion with a partner...
9. Credit card and phone bills by end of the month. I'll be wondering where did i kept my receipt...Crap
10. Always coming back late from work..then couldn't find any parking space around the apartment..
10 Things Why i love my job
1. My paycheck..hahahaha....what else
2. Meeting with new and interesting people..minus the arrogant and a**hole ones
3. Learning new things in life and work by being with brilliant and high performing people
4. Growing these local enterprenuer to the next level, nurturing and watch them mature...Its worth more than a thousand paychek
5. Getting a pat at the back by the boss..."You did a good job" Worth more than a lifetime of sales meeting...Heck...beat me up more man...
I can only get 5, but these 5 worth the pain and grit i have to endure...For me, the money is just to pay all the bills..but the main satisfaction of my job is to see those people benefitted from my contribution. It really gives me the whole perspective of my own existence. Last year I attended the 7 Hab*t of High*y Effe*tive Ppl course. They gave me 3 books to read on and CDs to listen. As usual, I was struggling to finish the book so opted for the CD instead. While listening in the car, one particular chapter in the book mentioned bout love..." Love is not a noun..but a verb. You need to work for it to gain love..to be loved" That sentence really hit me in the head..Now i learnt that I dun love my job coz I haven't work on it to achieve it..I didn't have the same passion and interest as my boss. Same goes to relationship. One have to love somebody to be loved..Its a verb...Get it!!

sorry for the quality of the pixs...guna hp jer (when are we gonna buy the new charger dear?) pix 1 and 2 i bought it in sabah..and pix 3 is a creation frm madam cheeky herself..hahahha. i have another few sets of beads (purple and pink)..but not enough rondelles (learning few new vocabs in bracelet making olaydi) to make it even more bling bling. yesterday met the beads supplier...a very nice girl who at first was just doin it as a hobby. i learn quite a lot frm her yesterday....wahh!!! ingatkan senang jer nak buat bracelet ni....now i'm having a 2nd thought abt something. anyway, i have ordered another set of beads frm ebay...and it will arrive at my letterbox dis wednesday. buying frm ebay is the cheapest actually. pixs above are actually the stretchable type. i prefer stretchable sbb senang nak pakai bukak...tp kalau nak buat over bling bling sikit have to use the tiger wire (another new vocab)...yg nak guna tiger wire ni yg nak kena belajar...and believe it or not...the girl is gonna teach me in special class...ahahahha....am i for real...we'll see!!! i have already spent like RMXXX buying the beads, wire etc...gosh!!! dlm byk2 hobi apsal hobi yg mahal ni yg melekat!!!!

2006 Hopes
Talking about opportunity, I was offered to join another dept earlier this month by a friend of mine..It was too good to be true...the pay is ok, the pipeline is there..the work is more interesting..the perks..free 1 week trip to Las Vegas this coming Jan...and basically every yr after that...crap...i'm must be dreaming...But in the end..I turned it down. I told this dude, sorry..i'm not prepared..coz i'm thinking to stay in the same role for at least 2 yrs...Well, I hope i'm not regretting my decision....
Next yr gonna an interesting yr..Since I'm not good in fulfilling my own resolution..it's better for Malaysian to have a standard resolution spread among us...meaning..if we failed..we failed together..hehehe
1. Stop smoking..yeah rite!!
2. Civilized driving...not with one hand holding a hp and the other a stick of ciggies...
3. Be health concious...exercise more...burn those flabs...stop smoking damn it!!
4. Less smsing....i kinda noticed most of us tend to talking using texts....gosh..my sister have her hp in front of her for any incoming sms..lets just talk like normal people...COMMUNICATEEEE
5. Civic minded when you're staying in a apartment...dun just let ur kids running around painting graffiti around the walls...at least the Western ppl can draw really cool stuff...this bunch of kids kept on writing new words they recently found in some lame dictionary and just wanna show of their superior vocabs...gimme a break
6. Public toilet is one thing..but lifts..c'mon..its not a dumpsite....grow up!!
7. Lesser taxes...more efficient on govt spending....wifey..u know what i'm talking about..i'm the freakin taxpayer here..ok!
8. Donate more..we're Malaysian never lack of this spirit...
9. Pay ur summonses...do not encourgae graft...except for some desperate cases..hehehe
10. Don't let me start talking about the traffic these days....
Dec 24, 2005
::::::
goin to kk alone without my munchkin is indeed very boring. touch down at kk airport around 12noon and mr T is already there waiting. he is goin to be my driver for the whole 3 days. nice guy and suddenly i can actually communicate using the sabahan dialect. check in at the hotel....rehat sekejap...and 1 clock plus plus dah gerak gi fillipino market. around 10 - 15 minutes walk to reach there. dunno why but im not that excited upon entering the market. maybe becoz of the smell. sapa yg brooch freak musti gile masuk tpt ni. i used to be a brooch freak..u know buying brooches that matches the color of ur tudung or baju....those were days. but then, goin to this market and looking at the colourful cheap brooch without even buying it is something not right. so i just shop just for the sake of shopping not becoz i need it.
halfway shopping i realise i'm only left wif 50 bucks...aiyark...tak cukup....ask around where is the nearest atm...hmm...have to cross 2 mainroads to get to the nearest bank....belasahhh!!! rasa mcm lonely planet la plak kan. on my way back frm the bank terjumpa this one restoren yg agak happening so decided to have my late lunch there. the waitress suggested nasi goreng lalap. cheeky's comment: they call it nasi goreng lalap but it is actually the normal nasi goreng ayam wif extra kuah kacang. lepas lunch dah dapat energy sambung shopping.....to cut short...got 8 pairs of brooch for myself...1 pair each for ummi and MIL...2 pairs of pearl's bracelets and 3 pairs of austria swarovski crsytal bracelets. 5pm went straight back to the hotel...exhausted. that nite decided just to stay in the room and had one pack of limau barli i bought on my back frm the market. got a call frm the organizer checking out on me...told him my abt my splendid afternoon and he was like...kamu berani yaa....nanti kena jual bah baru kau tau!!! hello....i'm here...so tak kena jual la
kannn. the following day is the meeting day and a visit to the site at kol*pis a.k.a kueh lopes. pix on the right shows the progress of the site...nothing actually...just tiang and tiangs. this pencawang is expected to be completed in june...which is as commented by almost everybody IMPOSSIBLE!!! arrive at the hotel near to 5...was thinking of goin to the market again tapi mcm tak larat. that nite we had our dinner at this one seafood rest...the only thing nice is their soft crab. the rest so-so but their dessert is awful. imagine having a melted version of peanut butter to be eaten like a bubur kacang...yek yekkk!! boleh tgk muka semua terbeliak biji mata at their first taste of this "bubur peanut butter". final day...balik!!! on my way to the airport, ask Mr T to drop me at the market coz i want to borong limau barli...I LIKE LIMAU BARLI. while waiting for my flight, caught a glimpse of datuq..shoot...why is he out frm that room so soon. quickly i have to hide the denim jacket im wearing...tak sesweiii. nak masuk plane tu he was explaining abt this rainfall thingy that causes the big flood in perlis n kedah..me of course tak paham...tapi layannnnn....zzzzz....pingsan!!!!!

Brian Scudamore of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?
One man's trash, and then another, and then another, and then another...
Start up capital - USD700
Established - 1989
Education - Uni drop out
2004 turnover - >USD30 million
Brian Scudamore started his company 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in 1989 straight out of high school with $700 and a beat-up old pick-up truck. Today they have 95 franchise partners across North America with a true national presence, they are in 47 of North America's top 50 cities.
Scudamore was a risk-taker, but firm in his vision. "With a vision of creating the 'FedEx' of junk removal," says Scudamore, "I dropped out of University with just one year left to become a fulltime JUNKMAN!
Yes, my father, a liver transplant surgeon, was not impressed to say the least." He chuckles,
"He is on my side now."Many entrepreneurs minimize their risks by outsourcing to contractors. Scudamore chose a different route."I hired my first employee a week after I started. I knew I needed the help. His name was David Sniderman , a good friend of mine. I really didn’t know yet how to hire so I just asked a buddy." It may have started as a matter of simply not knowing what else to do, but it became a philosophical issue for him. "On a bigger level, I always believed in hiring people vs. contract or consultants. I felt that if I wasn’t willing to make the investment then I was questioning my own faith in the business."On the other hand, he's a big believer in letting other people share some of the risk.
His choice of franchising as a business model allowed him rapid growth without having to turn to outside investors or other funding sources."It’s the ultimate leverage model. People pay you a fee up-front to help them grow. Rather than lose control my vision by going public, I chose franchising. It's the ultimate growth model."Their recipe for success has been simple.
Take a fragmented business, add clean shiny trucks that act as mobile billboards, uniformed drivers, on-time service and up-front rates, and then mix in with a culture that is young, fun and completely focused on solid, healthy growth. He has managed to retain 100% ownership and bootstrapped the business solely out of cash flow, something that is very rare these days.
Although this is a simple business, they couldn't possibly have grown this quickly without technology. Taking a low tech business and putting a high tech spin on it allowed them to rapidly distinguish themselves from their competition. All calls come into a central 1-800-GOT-JUNK? call center where they do all the booking and dispatch for their franchise partners. Franchise partners then assess all of their real time reports, schedules, customer info, etc., off of JUNKNET, their corporate intranet. This allows franchise partners to get into business quickly, and to focus solely on growth, working on the business vs. working in the business.1-800-GOT-JUNK? does about $32 Million in 2004, not a bad return on a $700.00 investment! Brian's BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is $100 million and 250 franchise partners by Dec 31st, 2006. He says confidently, "We will get there."
p/s : Me..too lazy too blog..so how am I gonna make my 1st million..sheessh
